Rachna Chandra, an immigrant from India, living in United States since 1997. She is the founder of South Asian fashion brand “Taj Cottage” located in Farmington Hills Michigan USA
Taj Cottage was Rachna Chandra’s teenage dream,Founded in 2005 in Michigan, USA, starting from her garage. Her passion for fashion and sewing since a little girl was the driving force behind the brand.
Rachna’s designs blend Indian bridal and contemporary styles, showcased at prestigious events like New York Fashion, Michigan, Columbus and Paris Fashion Weeks.Her designs also focus on sustainability and upcycling, transforming traditional Indian attires to combat waste.
Apart from fashion designing, Rachna has also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Henry Ford College and spearheaded the Industrial sewing program.
She has also worked at Irwin automotive as a soft trim engineer.
She is a Lead Sewing Instructor for a nonprofit (501c-3) Zaman InternationalShe has served as the Vice President for a nonprofit (501c-3) Glamorous Moms Foundation
She has served as the Co-Executive Director and treasurer for a nonprofit (501c-3) Detroit Garment Group
She is also a Co-Founder of a nonprofit (501 c-3)Detroit Indian Women Association –DIWAShe has run many fund-raising events like SUR AUR TAAL (Bollywood singing and dancing competition) and Taj Cottage Mask Mission during the 2020 lockdown.
She has received many accolades for her entrepreneurial and philanthropy work.
